Wedding preparations

Two people marry each other among family and friends. Hardly any other day in life is as significant as a wedding. This makes the preparations all the more important - which often begin a year before. And this is no exaggeration: In order to minimize the stress in the weeks before the actual wedding, it is recommended to start planning early. There are many little things that make a perfect wedding - in the following we will reveal a few things that you should keep in mind.

Wedding planning and organisation

Wedding planning and organisation

Finding a date is often the first challenge. Many couples want to get married on a weekend in the summer months, so these dates usually fill up quickly. So ask your registry office and your church as early as possible to clarify the venue. An Internet search can help, but in the end it is always best to visit the restaurant or the festival hall in person. This is the only way to judge whether the venue is suitable and whether, for example, the food tastes good there, what the parking situation looks like and whether there are overnight accommodations nearby.

Save-the-Date

Once the date has been set (about six months in advance is realistic), it is best to send save-the-date cards so that your guests can keep their schedule free. For older recipients who are not familiar with save-the-date cards, the information should be that this is only an announcement of the date. Venue or times can be mentioned - but do not have to be, as an official invitation will follow. It is more important that guests are advised of accommodation options, as hotel rooms or corresponding contingents must be booked in advance. If there is a theme, this should also be mentioned, so that the guests can prepare a suitable wardrobe. A nice photo of the future bridal couple completes the card. The popular postcard is particularly suitable for designing a Save-the-Date card.

Wedding Invitations

The invitation card itself is usually sent out two to three months before the wedding and should contain considerably more information: The usual questions must be answered:
- Who's getting married?
- When?
- Where?
- What time of day?
- What is the procedure?
- What accommodation is available for spontaneous travelers?
- Where can I park?

Also very important is a note on the desired feedback: Until when and to whom should guests send their reply?

Also  important is to mention the "dress code" if you have one. Tell your guest which style is required or whether you are having a theme.
With regard to the gifts, the bridal couple should give the guests a clear indication. If mainly financial gifts are desired, this can be gently conveyed with the remark that you would of course appreciate "financial contributions as our life together begins" or "for the honeymoon". Ideally, you should name a contact person who will coordinate the gifts.
